A project lost in a drawer for a month, Katniss Barbie decided I needed to finish this.

Isn’t she the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen?? I was at The Twickenham Doll Show in Huntsville Al yesterday and it was amazing! Most of the dolls were “antique”, “vintage”, or collectable, but a lot of it was just dirty, creepy old dolls that people were trying to sell for crazy prices. Old bisque dolls and dolls from around the 70’s are not my cup of tea. But it was still interesting to see them all and to see my mother’s face light up seeing toys from her childhood.

That being said, it was all worth it because I got some invaluable advice and teachings from an old crocheter named Doti that works with sewing thread and a size 16 crochet hook! I had always wanted to make the jump to going smaller, but found that the information I needed just wasn’t anywhere I could find. She told me everything I needed to know and I am very greatful and excited to get started on the tinies!! This is some of her work:

Just amazing the scale and detail of it.

Even though most of the prices were way too high, I managed to get 2 wigs for my Pullip / Tangkou  and 2 pairs of shoes for my Hujoo baby for just $10! I was hoping one of the wigs would fit one of my BFC ink girls, but her head is too big.

I’ve been slacking off on updating my etsy store with new items. School and life in general has got me a little bogged down right now. I’ve been working on an autumn leaf fairy outfit for a belly button Barbie sized doll, but I haven’t managed to finish it yet. And I am almost done with a candycorn jumper for a BFC ink sized doll. My next project I think will be to re-root by one BFC ink girl that has unfixable hair. We’ll see how that goes. I can’t figure out how to add a slide show anymore, stupid wordpress always changing on me. but here are some photos from the show.

I’ve been really busy spring cleaning…and dealing with the allergies it induces DX.

But I did find this cool little cap off of an old perfume bottle and the top of one of those capsules from a vending machine. I colored both of them with silver sharpie and glued them together, making a dollhouse table!! I just nee to find the right top to complete the project.

SAMSUNGWell it turns out I’m not as well and able as I thought, but I do have plenty of stuff to post about. The other night I decided I would learn how to knit again because honestly you could not have paid me to knit something without looking up how, I had so completely forgotten it. But luckily it took me all of 30 minutes to re learn it and after making a small swatch I made this adorable sweater and already I’m changing the patterns. Knitting and crochet are half science, half sport. Super easy. I made this sweater from a free pattern Here. She has many great knitting patterns for Pullips and they are so cute! Here it is flat.

SAMSUNGI also made a top for Frankie. I am meaning to add to it to make it more of a baby doll pajama with some bottoms. The trouble I’m having with crocheting for Monster High dolls is that the are SOOOOO incredibly skinny and then their hips and quite wide. I like to make clothes that can be pulled on and off, but it’s looking like I’m going to have to add some kind of closure to their clothes. When I come up with something acceptable, I’ll post the pattern. I know there is a lack of MH crochet patterns.

I’ve also started working to redo my smallest dollhouse. Right now it’s pretty ugly, but soon I will redo the wallpaper, make some furniture, and knit and crochet some rugs and curtains.

For some reason that back corner would not focus. I actually got those two porcelin dolls at the dollar store for Christmas. They fit perfectly and though they are not that great of quality, they are nice fillers so my Suve isn’t so lonely.

I’ll post soon with updates on the dollhouse and some tutorials and tips for saving money! Yay!

I’m alive!!

It seems like every blogger has an extended time of absence for some reason. Mine is partly because of the holidays, but mostly because of a chronic illness. The good news is that I have not abandoned my blog and I’m back in the game, posting regularly again. I have the dress pattern for Hujoo Babies, an underwear pattern as well, my endeavors in repaints, and some monster high crocheted fashion. And hopefully some more work on the Adventure Time blanket that has been a pile of rectangles sitting on the floor in my room for far too long.

A longing…

A few years ago I got into this dollhouse making frenzy and now I have about 4 in various stages of completion. I would really love to work on them but it’s kind of no fun if you don’t have any dolls to put in them. Then I had the most brilliant idea! I could get a Lati Yellow! I’ve always loved them but never really had a purpose for one before now. Well I got all excited and set out into the interwebs to find me one. It turns out that they are like $200!!! That is insane for such a little doll! I want one so bad but I really can’t afford that right now. The worst part is that there really are no other dolls i can find that even compare. I don’t like the Puki Puki and all those ones, but I did stumble onto the RealPuki’s and I fell in love with their cute cute CUTE elf faces, but they aren’t much cheaper than the Lati Yellows so I don’t know what I’m going to do. I guess if I get my etsy shop up and running and make a few sales then maybe I could afford it. But still…..$200 is alot of money…..but I could justify it as expanding my market since I could use the new doll to model off of……I just don’t know. 😦
